[MOVIE REVIEW]Fast & Furious 6
Director Justin Lin brings back the heart-pounding, adrenaline pumping, supercharged action flick for a 6th instalment (see what I did there?)
Fast & Furious 6 takes place months after the events of fast 5. Following their successful heist in Brazil Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his team scored themselves a cool 100 million dollars & are now all millionaires who have retired from their former lives of crime.
Without giving the plot away too much basically Dominic now lives with Elena (Elsa Pataky), his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster ) lives with Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and their son, Jack, Gisele (Gal Gadot ) and Han (Sung Kang ) have moved to Hong Kong while Tej (Chris Bridges) and Roman (Tyrese Gibson) are living in the lap of luxury.
Agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) has been chasing an international criminal & his crew across the world in 12 countries so he enlists Dominic & his crew to help him take down Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) in exchange for full amnesty for their past crimes & of course the big twist in the plot is the return of Dominic’s thought to be dead girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) who is suffering from amnesia & is working for the bad guy.
Put this all together and you have an action-packed action film with stunts so extraordinary & defy the laws of physics & gravity that they had to put up a disclaimer at the end of the film stating how dangerous these stunts are! (Which action movie has done that?) But the big twist doesn’t come in until after the end credits when Han is killed in Tokyo & the assailant happens to be non-other than the ultimate British badass Jason Statham!
The Fast & Furious franchise has done well to have evolved from just being about fast cars & money to becoming a full blown action series & a definite highlight in the movie is Tyrese Gibson’s character who offers comic relief throughout the film, even during a high-speed car chase with an army tank!
A 7th installment has already been confirmed with James Wan replacing Justin Lin as Director. The sequel has been scheduled for a 2014 summer realease with its 2 main stars Paul Walker & Vin Diesel confirmed to be returning plus Jason Stathom. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said that if Universal pursued the accelerated development of a seventh film, he would be unable to participate due to scheduling conflicts with filming his new movie Hercules: The Thracian Wars.
