Hip Hop Albums To Look Out For
If you know me personally then you’ll know how much of a Hip Hop fanatic I am and with that being said 2013 is going to be a huge year for Hip Hop locally & internationally! like DJ Khaled once said in one of his songs “working all winter, shinning all summer” seeing that its summer in the US right now a lot of artists are gearing up for big releases.
Arguably the most anticipated album for 2013 has to be Jay Z! Jigga hasn’t released a solo album since ‘Blueprint 3’ came out in 2009 but has confirmed that he will be dropping his 12th solo album this year although no official date has been set.
Another eagerly anticipated album has to be from Kanye West the world hasn’t heard from him as a solo artist since 2010 when he realeased ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ then a couple of weeks ago he tweeted “June Eighteen”, mind you Kanye hardly EVER tweets, which turned out to be the release date for his 6th solo album ‘Yeezus’.
Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg confirmed rumours of an 8th Slim Shady album much to his fan’s elation and has set a date ‘Around Memorial Day’ (late May, Early June). Eminem hasn’t released a solo album since ‘Recovery’ in 2010 but all 6 of his previous solo albums have sold over a million copies each & has earned him the accolade of being the 2nd highest selling Hip Hop artist of all time behind 2 Pac so expect nothing less from his upcoming project.
After his recent album won Best Rap at the Grammys Drake is at the very top of the rap food-chain & his new album ‘Nothing Was The Same’ is set to deliver more of his signatufre sound. He has made the Singer/Rapper thing work for him so expect more of the deep & introspective lyrical style from the Canadian native.
Other albums to look out for this year include Talib Kwali’s ‘Prisoner Of Consciousness’ Pusha T’s “My Name Is My Name”, Big Sean’s “Hall Of Fame” J. Cole’s “Born Sinner” DJ Khaled’s ‘Suffering From Success’, Rick Ross’s ‘Mastermind’ amongst others check-out MTV’s Most Anticipated Hip Hop Albums below:
