Khaya Mthethwa really has the magic! Earlier this year he became the first black winner of the South African version of “Idols”, he realised his debut album, he got the opportunity to be one of the opening acts for US singer Miguel when he was in our country a couple months ago now he has been crowned the winner of “Clash Of The Choirs South Africa” along with his choir from Kwa-zulu Natal.

The finale of the reality show was screened live on Mzansi Magic on Sunday evening from the Soweto Theatre & Khaya was named as the winner beating off stern competition from musical veteran Zwai Bala’s choir from Mpumalanga & Dance artist/producer Zakes Bantwini’s choir from Gauteng who were all part of the top 3 finalists, it features each choir consisting of 20 members singing different styles of music incorporating choral.

As host Bonang Matheba revealed, Khaya is the first person to ever win 2 reality singing competitions in the space of a year and thus his choir walked away with a whopping R750 000 prize with R250 000 of that money going to a charity of their choice.

The other 4 choirmasters who got eliminated Judith Sephuma, Thembi Seete, Winnie Khumalo and Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse also made an appearance and together all 7 choirmasters did a special performance of Johnny Clegg’s classic song The Crossing (Osiyeza)

This show really was Choral Music amplified! I can’t wait for Season 2
